About Our School
Ermington Public School has a population of around 410 children aged from 5 years to 13 years with sixteen classes, including two gifted and talented classes, a library, computer room, a COLA (covered outdoor learning area) and a huge oval where our athletics carnival is held as well as team sports. Even though we are in the middle of the city of Sydney, we are in a suburban area with only a few high rise residential blocks, a few light industrial and small commercial areas. We are close to rail, bus and ferry public transport systems.
Our school prides itself on its many achievements. We are a strong sporting school, having won district swimming and athletic carnivals and regularly have representatives in the zone swimming and athletic carnivals. Our sporting teams participate in soccer (boys and girls), rugby league, AFL, cricket, softball (girls and mixed), T-ball (girls and mixed), netball, tennis.
Academically our children perform well in english, mathematics and science competitions, take part in general knowledge challenges, chess, debating and art competitions. We also have a school choir, tuned percussion and brass bands as well as a dance group which is invited regularly to perform at the Opera House Ryde Spectacular. Our aerobics team finished in third place in the national Championships at its first attempt.
